Auditor
The County Auditor is an elected official who serves as the county's chief business manager and accountant. The Auditor is responsible for maintaining the official records of the County Commission, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and overseeing the county's financial records, including revenue and expenditure reports.
The Auditor also serves as the County Commission's administrative assistant, providing support to the Board of County Commissioners by coordinating meetings, preparing official documents, and ensuring commission actions are properly recorded and carried out.
As the county's Human Resources Director, the Auditor oversees personnel administration, including employee records, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and other human resource functions that support county employees and operations.
The Auditor administers voter registration and serves as the county's Election Supervisor, overseeing all federal, state, county, and local elections to ensure they are conducted fairly, accurately, and in accordance with state law.
Additional responsibilities include calculating real estate and mobile home taxes, managing county bid lettings, processing applications for county liquor licenses, and, in many counties, administering medical indigent claims. The Auditor also works closely with the County Treasurer to ensure county bills are accurately processed and paid in a timely manner.
As one of the county's key administrative officials, the County Auditor plays a vital role in maintaining transparent financial records, supporting the County Commission, managing county personnel functions, and providing essential services to county residents.
