The Register of Deeds is the "Library" for the county.  Our office records Deuel County real estate documents such as Deeds, Mortgages, Easements, Satisfactions, Plats, and other documents.  Our office maintains full and true computerized and scanned records of all the documents. Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates

The County Register of Deeds office can issue Certified copies of Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates for a cost of $15.00 per copy.  If you are unable to make it into our office you can mail us a completed form with correct fees using the application below or you can apply for a Certified copy online at www.vitalchek.com

 Our office also issues Marriage Licenses to anyone who plans to get married in South Dakota for a cost of $40.00.  Marriage licenses can be obtained 90 days prior to the marriage.  Both spouses need to be present and have a photo ID to apply.  Individuals under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign the application.  For more information about marriage requirements in South Dakota, please visit this website https://doh.sd.gov/records/marriage-requirements.aspx
