
Treasurer
The Deuel County Treasurer is an elected official who serves as the county's chief financial custodian. The Treasurer is responsible for collecting, receiving, safeguarding, and disbursing all county funds, including property taxes, special assessments, fees, fines, and other revenues owed to the county.
The Treasurer's Office collects real estate and mobile home taxes, maintains accurate financial records, and works closely with the County Auditor to ensure county funds are properly accounted for and disbursed.
In addition to its financial responsibilities, the Treasurer's Office serves as the county's motor vehicle office. Staff process vehicle titles and registrations, renew license plates, issue temporary permits, collect applicable taxes and fees, and report all motor vehicle transactions to the South Dakota Department of Revenue's Motor Vehicle Division.
The Treasurer's Office is committed to providing accurate, efficient, and courteous service while ensuring the responsible management of county funds and assisting residents with their property tax and motor vehicle needs.

Vehicle Registration Renewals
Registration on commercial, non-commercial vehicles and trailers, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and boats are done on a staggered licensing system based on the first letter of the owner’s last name. In the case of a business, it is based on the beginning letter of the business name. You may renew your vehicle registration 90 days before your assigned month.
